Mother Marie Gertrude
Mother Marie Gertrude lived what she preached. In spite of her ill health and indescribable physical pain and suffering, heroically she always responded to God’s call and accepted her being “ Send on Mission”, far or near within India or even farther to China, to Bangladesh( Dhaka). 24Seeing God’s will in every event and call, with unfailing commitment she accomplished the mission entrusted to her. Though she herself was suffering intensely from sickness she left for Dhaka by the end of January 1905 to be at the bedside of Sr. Vincent of the Holy Spirit, the ailing Superior of the new community there. Little did she know that there in Dhaka she will receive the call for her “last mission”, that the Lord will “send her on mission for the last time”. On 18 March 1905, Saturday Mother Marie Gertrude of the Precious Blood (Felicie Gros) surrendered her earthly mission into the hands of God our Father and breathed her last. She handed over the missionary flame to her sisters to pass it on to generations to come.
On 18 March 2005 we celebrated the death centenary of Mother Marie Gertrude. To mark this memorable event, a year long spiritual preparation and renewal progammes had been launched on 18 March 2004.

As the cause for Mother Marie Gertrude was going on, July 1st 2012 – July 1st 2013 was announced as “Renewal Year of Mother Marie Gertrude”. As the memorial of Renewal year of MMG, we published the magazine, “A TRIBUTE TO MOTHER MARIE GERTRUDE”. All the sisters of our province contributed their work in the form of poem, essay, portraits and experience.
We have obtained permission from Archdiocese of Dacca to initiate the cause in Nagpur. Sr. Roseline Felicie, SMMI of Nagpur province is appointed as the Postulator for this cause. Archbishop of Nagpur, Most Rev. Abraham Viruthakulangara has set up a separate Tribunal to follow the Diocesan phase of the cause of beatification of Mother. The members of this Tribunal – Archbishop, Episcopal Delegate, Promoter of Justice, Notary and Adjunct Notary – Postulator and Copyist took the oath of secrecy and accepted their office on 13th December 2012 in the presence of an august gathering at the St. Francis De Sales Cathedral in Nagpur.
