The root of our devotion comes from the fact that Fr. Henri Chaumont was affirmed to start the Society of Daughters of St. Francis de Sales while discerning his call to do the same.Marry The Motto he proposed to this Society is “Be Mary”. Fr. Henri Chaumont has stressed this focus in very many places. For him the daughters should carry out their apostolate as auxiliaries of priests like Mary who served Jesus. He wanted us to give Jesus to the non-Christians by contemplating the attitudes and countenance of Mary. In that occasion he says, “Be apparitions of Mary”. He has left several means:

• Erection of Grotto in honour of Our lady of Lourdes
• ‘Salve Regina’ to be prayed everyday for the conversion of non-Christian women
• Observance of ‘Immaculate Saturday’: Fr. Chaumont asked all the daughters of St. Francis de Sales to consecrate every Saturday and make of it an immaculate day in union with the missionaries.
• ‘To be Mary’ is not simply a pious motto given by our Founder. It is a mission. A mission entrusted to our Congregation by the Holy Spirit through the approbation of our Charism by the Church.
